Seniors Learn Real-World Skills in Seminar

Seniors learned real-world skills from faculty and alumni during an all-day seminar on Friday, April 19, as they prepare for life after Barstow.
After a senior-faculty breakfast, seniors divided into groups to learn about practical life skills including financial literacy from Matt Thurman, healthy relationships from Lindsay Zimmerman and car maintenance from Mark Luce. They then headed to IDEA Space, where several special alumni guests spoke to the seniors about how Barstow helped prepare them for their own futures. Guest speakers included video content creator Faakir Habeebulah ‘08, small business owner Taryn Blankenship ‘15, KU Medical Center dietetic intern Grace Guthrie ‘13 and Bianca Tucker ‘18, who works in sales at Walt Disney World. Each is successful in vastly different areas, a great example of the variety of opportunities available to Barstow graduates.
