Our admission office hosts events and experiences that will introduce you to our school and community in meaningful, experiential ways. We accept admission applications year round, with a recommended sequence of steps that will help you move easily from inquiry and applying to visiting and enrolling.

Admission Shadow Days
Experience the classroom and school community. Applicants for grades 7 and up shadow on Mondays, October-April. Students applying for grade 1-6 shadow on select weekdays January-May. Early childhood students attend February Roundups.
Joe Fox brings a unique perspective to the admissions office, because he's done it all at Barstow. A 2004 graduate himself, Mr. Fox has also been a lower school teacher, a college counselor, a director of middle and upper school and an athletic coach. He's also the father of three Barstow students.
With a broad and deep understanding of the importance of rigorous academics, athletic offerings, extracurricular opportunities, school traditions and school community, Joe has the ability not only to answer your admission questions, but to introduce you to the countless ways that Barstow can be the right fit for your student.
Sydney came to Barstow as a teaching assistant for Summer at Barstow in 2013, and moved into the role of admission counselor in 2015. As assistant director of admission, she makes sure families are familiar with the application steps and helps them manage the process from inquiry to enrollment — always available to answer your questions along the way.
Sydney has a bachelor’s degree in French and Secondary Education from Beloit College in Wisconsin and is certified to teach K-12 French.
Ellyn answers the first phone calls and emails from prospective families, begins their inquiry and admission process and greets every visitor when they arrive for an open house or tour. Her role as the admissions counselor is paired with her role as receptionist, where she always makes current and prospective students and families feel welcomed and valued.
Ellyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in studio art from UMKC.
