Campus Projects Driving Forward

It's an exciting time to celebrate construction projects around campus as the new year begins and Barstow marks 140 years since our founding in 1884.
The first completed project is the canopy over the early childhood playground. Students in kindergarten, pre-K, preschool and our new preschool prep class (coming in August 2024) will use it for outdoor learning, PE and play. This and several ongoing construction projects will improve the daily experience for students, families, visitors, faculty and staff. Here are a few updates:
  • Lockers will be installed in the middle school this semester. Seating and storage benches have been installed throughout the upper school hallways.
  • The former COVE has been converted into a multipurpose space for dining, early childhood specials classes, extended care and special events.
  • Both dining spaces have new flooring.
  • Security upgrades include a new digital time and messaging system in the lower, middle and upper school and ongoing door replacements with impact-resistant glass.
  • The steel frame and concrete mezzanine of the athletic building are complete.
  • Curbs, gutters and the first layer of asphalt have been poured on our second driveway. Additional asphalt cannot be poured until spring as temperatures fall consistently below freezing in January and February.
