Groundbreaking Marks Drive Forward

Members of the Barstow Board of Trustees joined school administrators to mark the start of construction on Barstow's second driveway during a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, July 28.
Vice President of The Barstow Schools and Chief Operating Officer Liz Bartow and Vice President of Advancement Jennifer Dreiling joined trustees Greg Graves, Erin Garrison, Tiffany Simpson and Jennifer Gille Bacon for the event at the start of Stowchella, the school's annual summer gathering.

From October 2022 through June 30, 2023, the Barstow community raised $2.3 million for Driving Forward, the campaign for a second driveway. The new access point from State Line Road will curve behind the baseball field and lead to the middle school entrance, alleviating traffic backups and wait times during school drop-off and pick-up times.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held just behind the center field fence of the new Graves Family Baseball Stadium, also included acknowledgement of the future $3.5 million athletic building. Senior Associate Phil Perkins from Multistudio and Operations Manager for OnSite Construction Jesse Baumann also dug into the dirt to acknowledge their companies' contributions to the projects' design and construction.

"Both of these projects bring exciting changes to our campus. Every family here will feel the positive impact every day — as you drop off and pick up students, as athletes practice and compete  and as fans come to cheer for our outstanding athletics teams," Bartow said. "It’s always a great day to be a Knight; as we continue to grow and drive forward, our community’s daily experience will get even better."
