BPA News November 2022

The Barstow Parents' Association held a general membership meeting on Nov. 16 to provide updates on fall programs and upcoming events.
Barstow Cultural Enrichment Festival
The Barstow Cultural Enrichment Festival will take place on campus on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023. Nineteen countries will be represented so far, through music, food, art, dance and traditional dress. Families are encouraged to represent their countries at an  8 ft. x 4 ft. table, decorated with flags and other cultural items for people to view. Anyone interested in host/co-hosting a table can contact Vice President Inclusion, Diversity + Equity Ryann Tacha. Volunteers are need to help with set up and tear down.

Friends of The Arts 
FoTA is seeking volunteers for support with upcoming theater productions across lower, middle and upper School.  A FoTA membership gives access to arts community events, complimentary tickets, early ticket access, special event parking and acknowledgment in programs. 

Barstow Booster Club
Booster Club is planning Night at the Stow, a celebration and recognition for fall and winter athletics before one of the winter basketball games. 

Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair in October made $12,000 dollars in sales. The teacher wish list remains live on the Scholastic website. Parents can order books any time of the year for their students' classrooms through that website.

BPA Updates  
BPA sold over 800 Harvest Festival tickets. Proceeds will help to pay for staff appreciation and middle & upper school events like Night at the Stow and monthly activities.  

The Faculty & Staff Gratitude Cart continues to be a success. Two classes will be responsible for stocking the gratitude cart for faculty and staff each month. Upcoming dates for each grade are:
  • October 17 — 11th/12th grade
  • November 9  — 4/5th grades
  • November 30 — 7/8th grades
  • January 11 — 3rd/6th
  • February 8 — 9/10th grade
  • March 1 —  preschool, pre-K, kindergarten
  • April 5 — 1st/2nd grade
