LADY KNIGHTS STRONG FIRST DAY STATE TENNIS

The Barstow Lady Knights finished a long day and a big day at the MO State Tennis Championships
In singles the Lady Knights strongest player drew an unfortunate tough seed, the 2018 State Champ from John Burroughs, rallied from a 2-5 deficit in the second set but lost after an impressive battle, 2-6, 5-7.  That moved Sarena to the consolation bracket where she rolled a very solid player from St Louis Lutheran South, 8-0.
In the other singles action Mary Colombo played well in her opening round and beat a strong Marshall player 6-2, 6-1.  Mary played .
With the  odd placement in the bracket that set up a meeting in the next round of teammates where Mary and Sarena met in the consolation quarters.   Both girls played with Sarena coming out on top and moving to the consolation semifinals on Saturday.
In doules action Hope Leathers and Mia Sabapathy also caught a  seeded team in the first round from Pembroke and lost in a tough match.  That moved them to the consolation round where they need two straight wins to stay in  the tournament.  The girls started slowly against their next team from St. Louis Bishop DuBorg but use their aggressive game  to grab control and roll to an 8-1.   The saved their best tennis for thier last match against a 20-4 Bolivar duo and with a smothering net game and flawless serving game, Hope and Mia rolled to an 8-0 win to send them into the medal round on Saturday.  Cogratulations ladies. !



The Barstow Lady Knights participated in the 2019 MO State Tennis Tourney Friday.

And other singles action Mary Colombo opened with the first round victory over a strong player from Marshal MO 6-2, 6-2. That moved her into the quarterfinals against a St. Louis player from Villa Duchenne were Mary fight hard but lost and moved into the second round of quarterfinals consolation. In that round, with some unfortunate bracket Mary played teammate Sarena Biria and Sarena won that in a match the both girls played well.
In doubles action Hope Leathers and Mia Sabapathy open with a tough loss to a fine Pembroke Hill doubles team and also moved to the first round of consolation where they met Bishop Dubourg from St. Louis.  The girls rallied from a slow start to real off eight straight games for an 8-1 win. Needing one more match to Stay in the tournament and move on to Saturday, Mary and Hope played their best doubles of the year, with flawless serving and a strong net game beat a solid 20 in for doubles team from bolivar 8-0.  stay in the tournament and move on to Saturday, Mary and Hope played their best doubles of the year, with flawless serving and a strong net game beat a solid 20–4 doubles team from bolivar 8-0 The tournament continues tomorrow morning in the Cooper center in Springfield after 9 o’clock  Congratulations ladies!
