KNIGHTS TENNIS IN BLUE SPRINGS TOURNEY

The Lady Knights played in the Blue Springs doubles Tournament on Friday with mixed results.  The tourney consisted of four doubles team and gave some JV players their very first experience at the varsity level.
In the A division, Hope Leathers and Mia Sabapathy shook off a sluggish start to rally for a 10-6 win in the first round over Lee’s Summit West.   In the semis the girls whipped a Jeff City doubles team 10-3.  The girls lost 3-10 to Blue Springs to take second in the A division.
In the B division freshmen Mary Colombo and Aishi Sethi paired for the first time this season to take home first place medals.  In the first round the pair rolled to a 10-3 win over Lee’s Summit West.  In the semis the girls struggled  to a 10-=9 (7-4) win.  Mary and Aishi became more active at the net to win  the B division championship with a !0-3 victory
Divya Dendi and Alizeh Shaikh competed inthe C division and played well.  Newcomers to varsity, Avleen Grewel and Nikki Liu played in the D division and gained some valuable experience which contained a hard fought tiebreaker loss.  All of the girls picked up a full day of valuable doubles experience.  
The girls compete Tuesday in the area’s premier high school tournament at the Plaza and follow with Pembroke Hill on Thursday.
