Gordon Lenci

Head of School
The Barstow School is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Gordon Kent Lenci, who served as Head of The Barstow School from 1968-1975. Mr. Lenci passed away in Bradenton, Florida, on Monday, May 11, 2026.
Mr. Lenci's work helped shape the foundation of the school after its move to State Line Road. During his first year at Barstow, construction was completed on a new middle school wing to help accommodate growing enrollment. He also oversaw the completion of Barstow's transition to a coeducational school, started a major fundraising drive for the Brookfield Gym and Miriam Babbitt Simpson Library, and led a substantial curriculum diversification that included the expansion of international electives.

Prior to serving at Barstow, Mr. Lenci attended Dartmouth College and began his teaching career at Suffield Academy in Connecticut. Following his tenure at Barstow, he became Head of School at Roland Park Country School in Baltimore, Maryland.
