Catherine Rush Thompson
Catherine Rush Thompson took a career inventory test in seventh grade at Barstow that led to her lifelong passion for physical therapy. She clinically practiced physical therapy for nearly 50 years, taught PT from 1978-2020 at KU Med and Rockhurst University, and published several professional books.
At Rockhurst, she created a service learning curriculum designed to provide pro bono healthcare services for children and adults. Catherine's career embraced Rockhurst's core value of "Magis," the commitment to pursue the greater good through excellence, service and continual growth. Her legacy, the Catherine Rush Thompson Magis Award, honors this dedication to service and is given annually to outstanding doctoral physical therapy students.
