    Sean Holmes
MS & US Director of Broadcast & Media Studies, Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach

Sean Holmes leads 2 sections of BTVN students in producing four news shows every week, plus Livestreaming school events.  And when he’s not at Barstow, you can see Sean’s work all over town—on Crown Vision at Kauffman Stadium, Sprint Center, Sporting Park, and freelancing for every major TV affiliate ESPN, NBC, Metro Sports and Fox Sports KC to name a few.

Sean’s passion is storytelling.  When he began as a videographer for the Liberty School district in 2001, he only knew he liked to tell stories, and it seemed like telling them with a camera would be interesting.  His passion for storytelling led him to pursue a degree in art and filmmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute.  While completing his BFA at KCAI, Sean landed an internship with KCPT, where he learned how television was built.

After graduation, Sean became a full-time employee at KCPT, eventually rising to editor, producer and independent filmmaker.  In 2011, Sean won his second Emmy for his documentary on Mental Illness and the Johnson County Jail.

When Sean isn’t behind the camera himself, or supporting a student who is behind (or in front of) the camera, he experiences occasional success as a sustainable homesteader on his family’s ten-acre settlement south of the metro where he lives with his wife Sarah (MS science teacher and Director of School Gardens) their two children Sage (class of 2021) and Solomon (class of 2023), 30 chickens, 6 beehives and Sarge the guard dog.

    Chloe Foster
MS & US Assistant Director of Broadcast & Media Studies, Varsity Volleyball Head Coach

Chloe Foster is BTVN’s newest instructor. She assists Sean Holmes with 2 sections of BTVN and Livestreaming school events. She is also the school’s head varsity volleyball coach. Before coming to work at Barstow, Chloe worked as the lead social media advertiser at Campaignium where she worked with the Smithsonian, Ashley Home Store, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Crystal Bridges Museum and the Walton Arts Center.
She attended Barstow for three years. Before graduating in 2011, she was a member of the volleyball team, soccer team, and BTVN. Chloe went on to play volleyball at Pittsburg State University. She rediscovered her love for filmmaking while competing with her team in Europe and documenting the trip for the school’s athletics website.
Chloe later decided to transfer to Drury University and play volleyball for the Panthers. During her time there, she was a member of the school’s television network, DUTV, had her own radio show, and created a website for the volleyball program. Chloe was also the communications intern for Drury Athletics. She photographed and produced livestreams for men’s and women’s basketball, swimming and baseball. She also helped launch the department’s first fan-based smartphone application.

The BTVN Program

"Sneak in music, take Go-Pro, mics are hot. Go!"

Four days a week, two sections of BTVN students produce live shows that capture what it means to be a part of the Barstow community. With weather, sports updates, daily reminders and creative video features the Barstow lower, middle and upper schools unite through informative ten-minute newscasts.

The hectic nature of producing a live newscast prompts students to cross dissolve, focus camera two and play a lower third graphic all in the same breath. If you see a student recording B-roll and snagging a quick interview on campus, you know where to find the footage. Welcome you to our broadcasting community.
