Debate Competes at National Championship
Members of the varsity debate team competed in the National Debate Coaches Association Championship in Bloomington, Indiana last week. This is the first national competition Barstow has qualified for since 2021.
Senior Jayden Sampat and junior Tyler Bauman faced some of the best teams in the country with impressive results, including a win against Washburn Rural High School from nearby Topeka.
Sophomores Aun Hathiari and Rohan Thomas had the opportunity to debate teams who have appeared in top 50 coaches polls, emerging with a win against a team from Washington State among others.
This competition marks the end of the season for Barstow’s debate squad. Congratulations to the debaters on a great season, and good luck to seniors Ava Levin and Jayden Sampat on their future college debate careers!
