Grade 6 Students Plan Service Trip To Costa Rica

Rising grade 6 students have the opportunity to travel to Central America this summer to study ecology, participate in service projects and experience the culture of Costa Rica.
Program Director Ilsy Bachly is planning a summer service learning trip to Tortuguero, during which new middle school students will work with the Sea Turtle Conservancy. She traveled to Costa Rica in November to make plans for the trip, which will include tours, service projects and environmental education components. Lower school teacher Amie Buckner will accompany the group as the curriculum coordinator and school nurse Ashley Zinkus will be the service coordinator.

The Barstow community will have the opportunity to be part of the service activities, through donations that will be taken to the small Costa Rican middle school where students will visit and volunteer.
