KNIGHTS TENNIS ROLLS AGAINST NOTRE DAME DE SION

The Barstow girls tennis team took on district rival Sion Wednesday at MInor Park  and walked off with a 7-2 victory.  The Lady Knights set the tone by sweeping the doubles to start with a 3-0 lead. At # 1 doubles Freshman Sarena Biria and Junior Mia Sabapathy rolled to an 8-2 victory while at #2 Senior Hope Leathers and Freshman Mary Colombo started out slowly at 4-4, , but then took over the net to take the next four games for an 8-4 win. At # 3 doubles Sophomore Divya Dendi and Freshman Aishi Sethi spent most of the match behind, but began to drive their ground strokes with depth and come back for an 8-6 victory.
Needing only two wins to secure the team match, Sarena set the pace in singles  with a strong  offensive attack for a quick 8-0 win.  to lock up the team win Hope Leathers got off to a fast 5-0 start and finished with an 8-2 win while Mary Colombo did the same with a convincing 8-3 victory.  To wrap up a solid afternoon, Aishi Sethi after a slow start found her baseline game and came from behind for an 8-5 win.  The Lady Knigts host the Barstow Fall Invitaitional on Friday at Minor Park.
