Knights Win Barstow Soccer Tournament
The Knights soccer team wins the 2025 Barstow Soccer Invitational.
On Saturday, September 6 the Barstow Knights took to the turf to take on the Maryville Spoofhounds in an attempt to reclaim bragging rights as Champions of the annual Barstow Soccer Invitational. In 2024 the Knights lost a heartbreaking match to Sacred Heart to end their bid for back to back championships in their own tournament. But this season the team set themselves up nicely after winning their two pool play games 1-0 over both Lone Jack and Warrensburg.
Both sides traded shots throughout the match until the Knights finally broke the scoreless game in the second half with a nice goal to go up 1-0. Minutes later the Spoofhounds scored to tie the game. With just a few minutes left in the contest, Barstow appeared to score a goal that would give them the lead and more than likely, the win. But the officials ruled a foul that would take the score off the board. Then, with less than three minutes remaining the Knights were awarded a penalty kick after a foul was called on a Maryville player. The penalty kick was good and the Knights cruised to a 2-1 victory and reclaimed the title they won in 2023.
