The Barstow School has once again been voted a Kansas City Favorite in The Kansas City Star’s annual reader poll, earning the honor for the third consecutive year.
More than 270,000 voters participated in the 2025 contest, which recognizes top local businesses, schools, and organizations.
Barstow has been selected every year since the contest began, reflecting consistent community appreciation for the school’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student-centered learning.
Founded in 1884, The Barstow School is an independent, coeducational institution serving students in preschool through grade 12. With a mission to foster symmetrical development of mind, body and character, Barstow prepares students for success in college and beyond.
President and Head of School Art Hall, who joined Barstow in July 2025, expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
“We are honored to be named a Kansas City Favorite again this year,” Hall said. “This distinction speaks to the strength of our community—our students, teachers, families, and alumni—who make Barstow a place of belonging, excellence, and opportunity. As the new head of school, I’m incredibly proud to carry forward this legacy and continue building a bright future together.”
Summer at Barstow, the camp program that attracts thousands of campers from across the metro every May through August, also earned a Kansas City Favorite designation. There are still openings in the summer program in select camps through August 8.
Barstow has limited openings in select grades for the 2025-2026 school year. Visit our admission page for information about visiting, applying and enrolling.
