After weeks of preparation, Barstow's middle school robotics team opened its competition season on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Mill Valley High School.
"For a rookie team, they blew it out of the water and did incredibly well," Coach Aaron Dalton said. The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team began prototyping and building its robot at IDEA Space in September, with guidance from upper school robotics students and mentors. On and off the competition field, students develop STEM skills, engage in community outreach and practice engineering innovation.
The middle school team competes again on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Notre Dame De Sion High School.
