Pink Out Raises Record Amount to Fight Childhood Cancer

The Barstow community raised $6,500 for childhood cancer research during this year’s Pink Out, an annual fundraising event that brings students, faculty and families together.
Traditionally held in October in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pink Out includes bake sales, spirit wear sales and volleyball and soccer matches.

This year, the community rallied around seventh grader Samantha Nadler, who is undergoing treatment for leukemia. Proceeds from the event were donated to Braden’s Hope for Childhood Cancer, an organization selected by Samantha’s parents, which supports childhood cancer research.

The school community showed its support in other ways as well. Pink Out spirit wear featured the words “Sammy Strong,” while posters throughout the gym and school hallways shared encouraging messages.
