BTVN Students Spread Holiday Cheer at Children's Mercy

BTVN students delivered gifts to Children’s Mercy Hospital this week, continuing an annual tradition of giving back during the holiday season.
Each year, students involved with BTVN (Barstow Television Network) choose to collect gifts to donate to Children’s Mercy Hospital in place of a Secret Santa gift exchange. This year, the class collected and donated more than $400 worth of toys, clothing, games, art supplies and activity books to support patients at Children’s Mercy and their families.

Students delivered the donations to the hospital in person, where staff members will inventory and distribute them to patients throughout the year. Donated items are given to patients as gifts throughout the year to celebrate birthdays, milestones and special moments, intending to spark joy during what is often a difficult time. Children’s Mercy accepts donations all year, including during the holidays.

One of Barstow's signature programs, BTVN is a student-run television station that allows participants to learn about television broadcasting in a live, hands-on environment with real tools and technology. Students produce and direct weekly episodes covering Barstow news, events and experiences.
