A Message from Shane Foster

President of The Barstow Schools
On June 30, 2025, Shane Foster will retire after 17 years as the visionary leader of The Barstow Schools. His tenure has been marked by exponential growth, global programs, STEAM learning and a spirit of innovation. Read his farewell letter to our community.
Dear Barstow Community,

As I retire as President of The Barstow Schools, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to each of you. It has been a true honor and privilege to serve this extraordinary community. Over the years, I've had the privilege and joy of working with your children from their early years to watching them walk across the stage at graduation.

Barstow is not just a school. It is a place where purpose meets possibility, providing students with the opportunity to be participants in their education. Barstow’s future has always been rooted in the partnerships we share with families and alumni who, like me, believe in the power of a Barstow education to shape lives and transform the world.

Your trust and support have allowed Barstow to grow while staying true to our mission. From expanding global programs to advancing our STEAM initiatives, every success we’ve celebrated has been made possible by your partnership and belief in our shared vision.

To our parents, thank you for entrusting us with your most important gift: your children. Watching them learn, lead, and flourish has been the greatest reward of my career.

Barstow’s future is bright. As I retire, I do so with a full heart and tremendous pride in what we’ve accomplished together. This school, your school, will always have my enduring admiration and affection.

With deepest thanks and warmest regards,

Shane Foster
