Lower school student council is introducing a new way to recognize students who demonstrate positive character traits.
For October, they are focusing on respect. Students who exemplify respect can earn a “lucky duck,” a paper duck with their name on it displayed on the student council bulletin board. The name “lucky duck” reflects how lucky the Barstow community is to have these students as classmates and friends.
Teachers can nominate students for lucky ducks by filling out the shout-out slips on the STUCO bulletin board in the lower school hallway whenever they catch someone exemplifying respect. Throughout the month, STUCO members draw names from the nominations and visit classrooms to let students choose a duck from a jar and write their name on it.
By recognizing students who demonstrate respect, STUCO is helping reinforce the importance of good character for Barstow students.
