Barstow Celebrates Girls Basketball in Final Four

Girls basketball faced Portageville on Wednesday, March 11, and Marionville on Thursday, March 12, in the Class 2 State Tournament. They ultimately placed fourth in the state. The tournament caps a historic season — and a week that began with an all-school send-off to Columbia and culminated in a first-ever trip to the Final Four.
On Tuesday morning, March 10, students from all divisions lined the circle drive with signs, pom-poms and well-wishes as the team boarded the bus for the tournament at Columbia. Barstow entered the state tournament with a 20–6 record.

A pep bus transported students to both games, and students who remained on campus gathered for a watch party in the auditorium during Thursday’s matchup against Marionville. The Knights finished the tournament in fourth place, returning home with Barstow’s first state trophy in girls basketball.

Several team members, along with their coach, also earned conference honors. Talia Dreher, junior, was named First Team All-Conference. Senior Alex Dean and freshman Bristol Sanders were named Second Team, and senior Chloe Red Legs received an honorable mention. Coach Rodney Gilyard was named Conference Coach of the Year.
