2026-2027 Upper School Assistant Robotics Coach
The Barstow School is seeking a supportive and enthusiastic Assistant Robotics Coach to help guide Team 1939, our Upper School FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team, with limited support provided to the Middle School FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team. The assistant coach will work alongside the lead coach, student leaders and mentors to foster student growth in robotics, engineering and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend 2–3 after-school practices per week, with increased time during the build season (January–March)
- Attend and support students during two regional competitions. (March–April)
- Help maintain a safe and organized working environment
- Encourage leadership, collaboration and problem-solving among team members
- Assist students in the design, construction and programming of the competition robot
- Contribute to team outreach efforts, especially in areas such as graphic design, branding, social media and marketing
Preferred Qualifications:
- No robotics or technical experience is required—training and support will be provided
- Passion for mentoring students and a willingness to learn
- Interest in engineering, computer science or STEAM fields is a plus
- Strong communication and organizational skills
