2026-2027 Varsity Head Dance Coach

The Barstow School is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable & energetic high school head dance coach for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate is experienced in dance and choreography for high school-aged students and possesses the qualities it takes to manage student dancers while growing the dance program. This  is a part-time position beginning September of 2026.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the dance program.
  • Plan and run practices, game day performances, pep assemblies and team events.
  • Develop dancer’s technical skills, performance quality and teamwork.
  • Choreograph routines for dance competitions and gameday performances.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and disciplined team environment. 
  • Supervise and support dancers during games, competitions and team events.  
  • Communicate professionally with dancers, parents and school personnel. 
  • Enforce rules regarding discipline, sportsmanship and conduct of all dance team members. 

Qualifications:
  • Strong background in dance, choreography and performance.
  • Experience working with high school students. 
  • Knowledge of current dance styles including jazz and hip hop.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members, parents and staff members.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor and inspire student-athletes. 
Availability for before or after school practices, game nights, and select weekend competitions.
