2026-2027 Middle & Upper School Mathematics Faculty

The Barstow School seeks a full-time mathematics teacher to join our community beginning in August 2026. The ideal candidate should be comfortable teaching algebra through calculus, focusing on student growth in mathematical reasoning, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving. Candidates with interest or experience in teaching AP Calculus and advanced electives are especially encouraged to apply. We seek educators who embrace the challenges and joys of working in a vibrant, small-school community which offers college-prep, honors, and AP-level courses to meet the needs of our diverse learners.
Essential Candidate Expectations: 
  • Evidence of strong foundational knowledge in mathematics 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of current teaching pedagogies and adolescent development
  • Demonstrate commitment to students’ progress, success, and social-emotional well-being 
  • Enjoy collaborating with colleagues within and across subject areas
  • Invest in the community and participate in the lives of our students outside of the classroom
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents and school community members through both written and spoken communication
  • Model lifelong learning for students with an openness to and enthusiasm for learning and professional growth 

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field. 
Experience teaching. 

Preferred: 
Master’s degree in Mathematics or related field. 
Experience teaching grades 6-12. 

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
