Fall Festival Fun

Rain can't keep Barstow down!
Despite the gloomy threat of rain, the annual Barstow Fall Festival went on, providing fun and happy memories for many of the school’s younger students. Barstow tried their best to manage everything according to plan with the inclement weather.
Although the soccer game was rained out, the food trucks came earlier than expected, benefiting students. Four food trucks were located in the back parking lot, offering both irresistible sweets as well as savory meals. The menus consisted of burgers, tacos, ice cream, smoothies, and more. The most exciting food truck for the younger kids was the ice cream truck, made apparent by the long line of children eager to be served.
Faculty and student volunteers made the Fall Festival possible by overseeing a variety of activities. There was plenty of entertainment for kids in the varsity gym, including bounce houses, arcade games, and face painting. Robotics even set up a booth where fascinated kids could control the robot themselves. Aasim Hawa, Junior and member of the robotics team, said, “The Robotics team had a stand at the fall festival to show our robot off and get students and other visitors interested in robotics and STEM.” It is important for kids to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math so they can consider STEM fields as possible career options when they get older.
Overall, the Fall Festival was a success, even with the rain. Everyone kept their spirits high, especially the younger kids. They played and ate until they dropped. Junior Wenhan Sun said, “The rain really put a damper on everything at the fall festival, but it was amazing to see the classic games as well as some new activities and inflatables.”
