Cum Laude Recipients

On Wednesday, January 28, Barstow held its 50th initiation ceremony in the Raymond B. White Auditorium.

Eight students and four faculty members were initiated into the Cum Laude Society. The following students were initiated from the Class of 2009: Sydney Elizabeth Ayers, Natalie Elizabeth Hays, Victoria Elizabeth Hoss and Brent William Neihart. The Class of 2010 initiated the following members: Blake Karsten Beaver, Kenneth John Fox, Jo Heun Lee and Ethan Michael Thomas. Head of School, Mr. Shane A. Foster, Upper School Debate Director, Ms. Linda Collier, J.D., Upper School Mathematics teacher, Dr. David Cramer and First Grade teacher, Mrs. Melody Studer were also initiated into the Cum Laude Society as this year’s faculty initiates. Barstow was the first school in the Kansas City area to receive a charter in the Cum Laude Society. The charter, granted in 1959, allows the chapter to elect one-fifth of the senior class and one-tenth of the junior class to membership. The presence of a Cum Laude chapter at a secondary school is an indication that superior scholastic achievement is honored.
