World Language Students Connect on Greeting Project

Lower school students in French, Spanish and Chinese classes are practicing greetings, introductions and ways to start a conversation.
As part of a project on greetings and introductions, fourth and fifth grade students in Spanish, French and Chinese (Mandarin) classes wrote introductions in their target languages, which are now displayed on the World Languages bulletin board in the lower school hallway. Some groups wrote greetings and others answered with written responses, allowing students to learn from one another and practice conversations while sharing their work with the rest of the school.

Lower school world language classes focus on interaction and conversation, allowing students to practice as they learn. Students also use collaborative storytelling as a way to develop their language skills. By adding their own details to a story, students practice listening, communicating and creating within the language they are learning.

The World Language program offers French, Spanish and Chinese to students at Barstow.
