Fourth and Fifth Graders Win Big at Science and Engineering Fair
Thirty-four fourth and fifth graders won awards at the Greater Kansas City Science and Engineering Fair, which took place April 8-12 at Union Station.
The Greater Kansas City Science and Engineering fair, designed to encourage early interest in STEM subjects, began in 1952 and has been held yearly for 75 years. Students in grades 3-12 from around the metro are invited to submit projects each year, which are displayed in the Grand Plaza at Union Station. Seven students from grade 4 and 27 students from grade 5 won awards and recognitions for their submissions this year. Tess Garbos, grade 5, submitted a t-shirt design for this year's fair and placed second. Her art was featured in the event's program.
