Robotics Qualifies for World Championship Tournament
The robotics team, FRC 1939 The Kuhnights, competed at the Greater Kansas City Regional at Lee’s Summit North High School April 8-11. They earned enough points to advance to the FIRST Robotics World Championship competition at the end of April.
Based on the qualification matches during the first day and a half of the competition, the team ranked fourth, putting them in a strong position to choose partner teams for the playoffs. Despite their robot sustaining a small amount of damage during the playoffs, the team was able to recover and make it to the fourth round.
They also won the Excellence in Engineering Award, which recognizes high quality engineering, creative solutions, thoughtful design and practical application.
The team will travel to Houston, Texas to compete at the FIRST Robotics World Championship from April 29-May 2.
