Senior Selected for Elite Scholarship

Carlos Salazar, senior, has been named a 2026 Coca-Cola Scholar, one of the most competitive scholarships in the country.
Selected from a pool of more than 107,000 students nationwide, Carlos is one of only 150 high school seniors chosen for the award, less than one-seventh of one percent of applicants. Coca-Cola Scholars are selected for their leadership, academic excellence and commitment to creating positive change in their communities.

At Barstow, Carlos is involved in FIRST Robotics, where he was selected as a Dean’s List Award finalist in 2025 for excellent leadership and professionalism in robotics. He is a member of Barstow’s computer programming team, which competed at state level in the highest division in 2026, and has traveled to competitions to face high school and college-level teams. He participates in Barstow’s theatre program, is a Congressional Award Gold Medalist, a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist and a member of the National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society.

Carlos will receive a $20,000 college scholarship and join the Coca-Cola Scholars alumni network, a global community of leaders dedicated to service and impact.

In April, Carlos will travel to Atlanta for Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend, where recipients will be recognized at the annual banquet and will participate in an intensive Leadership Development Institute.
