First Grade Landmarks On Parade

As part of their study of Kansas City, first graders built parade floats to depict Kansas City landmarks.
Students researched the history of their chosen landmark, created blueprints of their design and modeled floats that include detailed information and objects that represent the subject of their research.

Parks and fountains, stadiums, museums and a hospital building were among the Kansas City landmarks represented in this project. Each parade float model is accompanied by written information to inform the viewer of both historical facts and personal significance.

These projects were placed on display outside the lower school classrooms on Thursday, Feb. 27. Students of all grade levels are invited to walk by and view them.
