From their earliest years, Barstow students develop the skills to become excellent writers. And now, a group of middle school students can prove it by earning the designation, "published poet."
English teacher Lisa Tillema submitted creative writing by her sixth grade students to a poetry contest last spring. So many were chosen to be included in the book, "Creative Communication: A Celebration of Today's Writers," that Barstow has been named a Poetic Achievement Honor School.
