Barstow Debate Goes Digital
The upper school debate team earned five policy debate awards at the TOC Digital Tournament held online from Dec. 1-3.
Freshman Duha Azaz and Aditya Rastogi won third place in the rising star division, which included novice and junior varsity participants. They lost in the semi-finals to the co-champions from the Asian Debate League based in Taiwan.
Freshman Charlotte Turner and Sky MacIvor also competed in the rising star division and advanced to the quarterfinals to receive a fourth-place award. Aditya Rastogi won the second-place speaker award, and Duha Azaz was third.
Senior Jayden Sampat and junior Tyler Bauman were recognized for achieving a 4-2 preliminary record in the varsity policy debate division but narrowly missed advancing to the elimination rounds on speaker points.
