Barstow Debate Gives Thanks in Chicago
The Barstow debate team traveled to Chicago on Friday, Nov. 17, for the Glenbrooks tournament. The team returned home as tournament champions.
Congratulations to freshman Charlotte Turner and Sydney Westphal who won the novice division. Additionally, Charlotte was the sixth speaker and Sydney was the fourth speaker out of 48 novice debaters.
Congratulations also go to freshman Mohammad Abu-bakr and Lex Schlesener who made it to the final four, losing on a close 2-1 decision. Lex was also the 16th speaker overall in the novice division.
The varsity teams won and lost some tough debates against some of the best teams in the country.
