Algebra Students Measure Skills With Third Grade

Algebra II Honors students spent the afternoon at IDEA Space collaborating with third grade students and learning about linear regression.
Mr. Thurman's upper school algebra II honors students taught third graders all about how to collect data and plot points on a graph. Students gathered in pairs of two or three and measured one another's height and shoe size.

Once all of the data was collected the groups sat down and plotted all of the data points on a graph to see the correlation between height and shoe size. Third graders then learned how upper schoolers utilize their graphing calculators to input data and see the results.
