Women's History Month Mural Honors Artists

Art teacher Amanda Lea created a mural celebrating Women's History Month and 10 notable American women who have had a profound impact on the world of art.
Ms. Lea created this mural in the same fashion as the Black History Month mural. Among the artists depicted in the installation are pioneering female artist Georgia O'Keeffe, a documentary photographer that captured displaced farmers during the Great Depression and the artist selected by Michelle Obama to paint her portrait for the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. The portraits displayed in the middle school feature a QR code that takes viewers to a slideshow that features a biography and examples of each artist's work.
