Debate Takes First at Major Tournament

Upper school debate won first place in novice policy at the Glenbrooks Speech and Debate tournament in Chicago on Nov. 19-21.
The squad won three other awards at the largest regular-season competition in the nation, attended by 265 high schools.

Aun Hathiari and Ethan Jiang won the novice policy debate championship, defeating a team from Little Rock, Arkansas, in the final round. Eshan Patel and Ethan Ledezma were not far behind, finishing as semifinalists. Eshan also won 11th place speaker. Both novice teams were undefeated in preliminary competition, combining to earn a stellar 10-0 record.

In junior varsity, Kimberly Nguyen and Rish Sood advanced to the quarterfinals. It was the duo's first time debating together, and they achieved a 4-1 preliminary record.
We appreciate the efforts of all the students that participated at the Glenbrooks and look forward to future tournaments.
