Students Test Their Entrepreneurial Skills

Second grade students have been studying economics and the fundamentals of running a business.
After learning business terms such as services, goods, consumers, profits and other important aspects of running a business, the second grade students worked in groups to practice organization, sales and marketing skills to design their businesses and produce commercials.

To apply their knowledge, they set up lemonade stands around the Senior Circle on Tuesday, May 10. Parents and students used Barstow Bucks to purchase lemonade, while the sales teams collected and calculated the profits, then the classes discussed successes and improvements.

Students also placed tip jars at their lemonade stands and raised $383.54 for Kyiv-based Alekom Education. They were inspired to raise money for Ukraine after the successful fundraiser organized by  sophomore Izzi Osman on  May 2, to support emergency education needs for students in Ukraine.
