Middle School Student Wins Essay Contest
Abby Allen, grade 6, is a top three winner in Synergy Services' Kindest Kansas Citian Contest. Judges selected her essay about a family friend from more than 3,000 kindergarten-grade 12 entries.
Abby wrote her essay for Ms. Tillema's English class. She nominated Karen Hudson, an educator at the School of Economics in Blue Springs. Abby read her essay and thanked Karen for her service, friendship and leadership during the virtual awards show on Friday, May 7. Watch Abby's appearance (beginning at at 1:16).
The Kindest Kansas Citian Awards are sponsored by Synergy Services, a nonprofit organization that assists families in crisis, operates emergency shelters and hotlines and provides education programs to build a safer community.
