Barstow is fortunate to have alumni who stay engaged with the school and share their experiences with our students to enrich classroom learning. Jonathan Rosa '11 returned to fifth grade this week to help students make a real-life connection to literature.
"Out of My Mind" is about a young girl's challenges and triumphs living with cerebral palsy. Fifth grade teachers invited Rosa for the virtual visit because he has a mild form of the balance disorder.
He said it has never held him back from his achieving everything from student success at Barstow to landing a dream job with the Kansas City Royals organization. The book helps teach lessons about empathy and determination.
