Student Scientists Put Environmental Learning into Action
Grade 7 science students hauled nearly 200 pounds of trash out of Indian Creek on Tuesday, May 14, capping a yearlong project using the National Geographic Geo-Inquiry Process.
The project is a first for Barstow students. Ms. Holmes, a National Geographic Certified Instructor, guided her students through the five-part Geo-Inquiry Process.
They learned about the history of Watts Mill along Indian Creek at 103rd and State Line, gathered data about local water quality, organized the information for presentation to businesses near the creek, then acted on their findings using a KC Water Education Grant.
