The boys tennis team took on some of the best competition in Missouri and Kansas at the KC Invitational on Tuesday, April 25.
At #1 doubles, senior George Colombo and junior Sankeerth Gandhari finished 2-2. The boys opened strong with Lee's Summit and used strong serves and a solid net game to roll to an impressive 8-2 win. In the second quarter, Sankeerth and George started strong but let one get away with a 7-8 (7-4) tiebreaker loss. The guys picked up a second win vs. Lawrence Free State, 8-2.
In A singles, Liam Groden finished 2-2. He served especially well and mixed up his game with groundstrokes and attacking the net for an 8-0 win against Blue Valley, and picked up his second victory of the day in his fourth and final round against Blue Valley Northwest and came out on top, 8-5.
In B doubles, senior Aaram Salm and freshman Sanjeev Adma also finished the day with two wins. In their first round, the boys beat a pair from Liberty High School, 8-5. They picked up their second victory of the day vs. Shawnee Mission East. After a slow start and then reeling off a couple of games in a row, the Knights won by a forfeit when the SME player had to withdraw.
Finally in B singles junior Nithin Guduputi used his best serving of the day and solid, consistent groundstrokes to pull off a win in the final round against Liberty North, 8-4.
