Students explored academic, cultural and hobby-related clubs at the Upper School Clubs and Activities Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Upper school student clubs are open to everyone and meet during flex times throughout the year. Academic clubs cover topics such as science, world languages and standardized test preparation. Hobby-based organizations encourage creativity (Knitting Club, Art and Design Club, Film Club), sustainability (Barstow Recycling Committee) and athletics and fitness (Mens Volleyball League, Girls Strength and Sports) among other interests. Inclusion-based organizations include the Black Student Union, Muslim Student Association, Jewish Student Union and AAPI-Alliance.
Some student organizations such as Agathon, Barstow’s literary magazine, and The Pretenders, for students interested in theatre, return each year, while others are new. In addition to regular meetings, every group is required to plan and host at least one social, service-based or educational event during the year.
