Award-Winning Yearbook Staff Unveils This Year’s Weathercock
At an assembly on Thursday, May 8, the staff of the 2024-25 Weathercock yearbook announced this year’s theme: “What’s the Point?”
Yearbook staff, along with Mr. Sean Holmes, developed this year’s publication through a process that took an entire year. During the spring and summer of 2024, they met to share ideas and inspiration. By the time the school year started, they had a clear direction and theme, and they spent the next two semesters developing a publication with content and visuals that all tied back to the idea of Barstow as a starting point for the future.
Each year’s Weathercock is dedicated to two faculty members who have had an especially meaningful impact on the senior class. This year, the yearbook is dedicated to Dr. Josh Markley and Mrs. Mallory Plungkhen. Dr. Markley was chosen for the positive, safe and welcoming environment he creates in his classroom for all students. Mrs. Plungkhen was recognized for teaching her students how to be good people and make choices that affect others positively, and for always making her students laugh.
In April, Walsworth Yearbooks presented the staff of the 2024-25 yearbook with the Gallery of Excellence award, based on outstanding design, typography and theme development.
