Athletes Recognized for Excellence

The Barstow Knights celebrated student-athlete excellence during the 2026 Athletic Awards ceremony on Thursday, May 7, recognizing accomplishments in competition, leadership, scholarship and sportsmanship throughout the year.
More than fifty upper school athletes earned recognition for athletic and academic performance in eleven varsity and JV sports: soccer, cross country, golf, tennis, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, dance, swimming and diving, baseball and track and field.

Awards were presented to students earning All-Conference and All-District honors, along with state qualifiers and finalists across Barstow athletic programs. The evening also included recognition of all senior members of the Class of 2026 for their dedication and contributions to Barstow athletics during their high school careers.

Senior Cayden Crosby received the NAIA Champions of Character Award, recognizing exemplary character, leadership and sportsmanship. Senior Nik Mykhailenko earned the Crossroads Conference Sportsmanship Award for his leadership and integrity in competition.

The MSHSAA Sportsmanship Awards were presented to senior Soren Gupta and junior Caroline Simpson for demonstrating outstanding citizenship, respect and sportsmanship.

Seniors Sophia Shkuta, Rohan Thomas and Eshan Patel were recognized as Kansas City Star Scholar Athlete nominees. Eshan, Rohan, Nik and Sonya were also honored as KMBC/Hy-Vee Scholar Athlete nominees. Eshan and Rohan were among just 10 metro-area students to earn the recognition this spring.

Junior Lia Levin received The Rock Award, while senior Didi Chionuma earned the Fritz Gabler Achievement Award in recognition of outstanding achievement and dedication to Barstow athletics.
