Eighth Grade Prepares for Upper School Transition

Eighth graders got a first-hand look at upper school life on Monday, Sept. 22, during a move-up day designed to help them prepare for the transition next year.
Upper school students paired up with eighth grade shadows for the day, participating in special activities along with their daily schedule. They began the morning in the dining hall, eating doughnuts and socializing before pairing up with their assigned buddies and heading to class. The eighth graders also joined the upper school for their mid-morning meeting and had lunch together. In the afternoon, they faced each other in a team-building volleyball game.

Move-up day gave eighth graders valuable insight into upper school life, from academics to scheduling. By shadowing their peers, they also built social connections. As they prepare to move into upper school, students now have a clearer sense of what to expect and a network of peers to support them.
