Middle School Pep Council Shops for Essentials Following Fundraiser
Middle School Pep Council members completed the final step of their service project Wednesday, Feb. 25, shopping for essential items to support local nonprofit Giving the Basics.
After raising funds through their candy gram sale earlier this month, members of the Pep Council went to Costco and Walmart to purchase the organization’s most needed items. In total, they bought $627 worth of hygiene products and household essentials before delivering the donations to a Giving the Basics drop-off center.
The shopping trip marked the culmination of a project that gave students hands-on experience with community service from start to finish, from organizing a fundraiser to delivering the items directly.
Giving the Basics is a nonprofit organization that collects and distributes hygiene products and household essentials to individuals and families in need.
