Senior Carlos Salazar has been named a finalist in the 2025–2026 Coca-Cola Scholars Program, placing him among 250 students selected nationwide.
Salazar is involved in a wide range of activities at Barstow, including FIRST Robotics, theater productions and Barstow's computer programming team. He is a Congressional Award Gold Medalist, a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist and a member of the National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Program is the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program in the United States. More than 107,000 students applied for the $20,000 scholarship during the fall of 2025. Salazar was named one of 1,237 semifinalists in October and advanced to finalist status following an additional round of selection. He will participate in a final interview to determine whether he will be named a Coca-Cola Scholar. A total of 150 students will be selected and announced in the spring.
