Staff Accountant - 2024-2025 School Year

The Staff Accountant’s responsibilities include creating general ledger entries, maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget, accounts payable and assist with accounts receivable when needed. This position works closely with the controller.
Essential Job Functions:
- General Ledger
- Prepare monthly journal entries as assigned by the Controller or CFO
- Prepare monthly reconciliation reports, including the bank reconciliations
- Prepare year-end audit reconciliations
- Maintain the general ledger system
- Assist with month end and year end close
- Assist with the budget
- Accounts Payable
- Process all accounts payable not processed through AvidXchange
- Create purchase orders
- Create monthly a list of accounts payable invoices to accrue
- Maintain the prepaid expenses schedule
- Reconcile monthly the Accounts Payable aged with the general ledger
- Additional Duties
- Open the Business Office mail
- Keep record retention files
- Cross train in accounts receivable
- Various duties assigned by Controller or CFO
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or 5 years working as a staff accountant
Experience and skills:
- Prefer 2-5 years in a nonprofit and educational setting, or relevant experience
- Proficient in use of professional technology applications and resources
- Capacity to work in both groups and independently, while simultaneously managing multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong knowledge of excel
- Blackbaud and AvidXchange experience is helpful
- Expertise in written and verbal communications
