Senior Billing Specialist

Imagine 1 week off at Thanksgiving, 2 weeks off for Spring break, 2 weeks at Winter Break plus vacation, sick leave and personal days. The Senior Billing Specialist is responsible for maintaining the student tuition and incidental billing system; tracking financial aid statistics; representing the accounts receivable department for the school; and assisting in various financials processes of the Business Office.  The position requires the ability to professionally communicate with families regarding their student account balances and monitoring timely collections of accounts receivable.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Student Billing
    • Maintain SB database for approximately 800 students
    • Correspond with families about Tuition Refund Insurance
    • Maintain financial aid database
    • Review student delinquent balances, contact families and alert CFO of delinquent accounts
    • Monitor enrollment statistics with Admission Office
    • Accurately account for all tuition revenue
    • Prepare monthly incidental charges to be billed to student accounts
 
  • General Ledger
    • Prepare journal entries to reconcile SB database
    • Prepare monthly reconciliation reports
    • Prepare year-end audit reconciliations
 
  • Cash Management
    • Post the daily tuition collections
    • Maintain in-office petty cash fund
    • Backup for scanning the check deposits
    • Backup for delivering cash deposits to the bank
 
  • Business Office Duties
    • Assist with the completion and submission of statistical survey (NAIS Stats, enrollment survey and other).
    • Open the Business Office mail
    • Keep record retention files
    • Backup for Accounts Payable or Payroll
    • Various duties assigned by Controller or CFO
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:                
  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience
 
Experience and skills:                     
        • Prefer 2-5 years in a nonprofit and educational setting, or relevant experience
        • Proficient in use of professional technology applications and resources
        • Capacity to work in both groups and independently, while simultaneously managing multiple tasks and deadlines
        • Strong knowledge of excel
        • Expertise in written and verbal communications
